[Sigia-l] Form Usability - Search & Cancel location

I agree that tab order is a problem --, with "Cancel" on the left we have
seen too many users fill out a form and hit the Enter key, only to lose all
their work.

We would prefer to have the Cancel | Submit layout, but we want the action
of pressing the Enter key to mean "Submit". Can someone explain how to make
this work?

What we have done is put "Submit" on top of "Cancel". Which to Joe 10's
point is what you see in Windows apps when you select File | Save As...

The only issue with having the "Next" or "Submit" button to the right of
"Cancel" or "Previous" to me is tab order. If a user is tabbing through a
form, they can cancel or clear out the information they entered fairly
easily. Thoughts?

I'd agree with you. I always put the button that will take a user forward
in the process on the right side of the button grouping. Conversely any
button that will halt progress, or take a user back would be on the left
side.

I've watched people in usability labs and they favor moving the mouse to
the lower right. I have no science to back up my claims, just
observations of users.
