FYI, this Information Architect position at Blue Cross Blue Shield of
North Carolina is located in the Durham/Chapel Hill area. I've been
acting in an IA role at BCBSNC for about a year, and there's been
enough support and demand for IA services that we've decided to hire

Job Title - Web Information Architect
Major Responsibilities - Set conceptual design and direction based on
field research and functional requirements. Define the user experience.
Identify user interface. Perform user experience and usability
research. Translate usability research findings into design
improvements. Design the user interaction model, workflow, information
architecture and user interface. Define and develop navigation,
labeling, searching and organization systems for web applications
development. Create and test prototypes. Work with graphic designers to
improve and refine product visual design and consistency. Develop
guidelines and standards for consistent and scalable web applications
development. Balance needs of users, sponsors and designers.
Communicate and integrate activities with the team, business and other
I.S. departments to foster good relationships and ensure success.
Support the achievement of goals at the team, department, and company
levels. Comply with all business and professional requests from the
management staff.
Requirements - Bachelor or technical degree required and three years of
experience in web information architecture and/or development of
websites in a professional development environment. Must have knowledge
of user interface design principles, human factors, user centered
design processes, interaction design guidelines, usability
methodologies, industry standards and trends, platform standards and
software development. Must have the ability to design navigation,
labeling, searching and organization systems for web applications
development, to conduct user experience testing, to conceptualize
information systems design and translate into interface requirements
and make design recommendations based on usability findings and
standard design practices. Experience with HTML and diagramming tools
such as Visio a plus. Good analytical, organizational, facilitation and
communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft applications required.
Must be self-disciplined, flexible and adaptable.
