I agree the need to bookmark is no longer so desperate thanks to
Google's ability to relocate items from a small scrap of remembered
information. Still, my collection of bookmarks is a valuable personal
record of interactions with the web and has associations and annotations
that i'm thankful for so I havn't stopped bookmarking completely.

A far fetched suggestion for the "Googleplex":  integrate a webased
bookmarking tool something like Backflip into search results and use it
to harvest user's personal rankings and annotations of pages?
