Most of the software I worked on didn't have enough content to
require significant organization. Some aspects of IA relate pretty
well, like labeling, categories and navigation. User Experience
techniques were much more important for me.
For what it's worth, I helped design bibliography software (EndNote),
a developer environment (Metrowerks CodeWarrior) and a mail server
and webserver on the Mac [don't laugh] (StarNine Mail & WebSTAR).
Don Norman was and is a great inspiration.
