I'm very pleased to announce our new slate of SIG HLTH officers:

Miraida Morales, Chair-Elect
Miraida Morales is a 3rd year Ph.D. student at Rutgers, focusing on the role of language on health information practices. She uses mixed methods that incorporate community engaged research and linguistic methods such as NLP and corpus linguistics to analyze consumer heath information. She lives in Brooklyn, N.Y, and has an MLIS from Rutgers and an MA from NYU. In her free time, she likes to run half marathons and play the djembe, though not simultaneously.

Deborah Charbonneau, Secretary/Treasurer
Deborah Charbonneau is an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She currently teaches in the areas of Library Management, Health Informatics, and Research Methods. Dr. Charbonneau was selected as one of 2015 recipients of the ASIS&T New Leaders Award, and she was also awarded the 2014 Donald A. B. Lindberg Research Fellowship from the Medical Library Association.

Samantha Kaplan, Communications Coordinator
Samantha Kaplan is a second-year doctoral student at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research interests involve health misinformation, decision-making, and information use. She has served as chair of the Doctoral Student Association at UNC since January 2015 and, prior to pursuing her doctoral studies, worked in a Marketing and Outreach capacity in multiple organizations.

You'll have the opportunity to meet the new officers at the following activities at the annual meeting:
