Hi all!
This year we have a number of SIG Cabinet positions on which we'll be voting. They are three SIG Cabinet Advisors, one SIG representative to the ASIS&T Nominating Committee, and one SIG Cabinet representative to the SIG of the Year Jury. Please see below for information about each of these positions. I welcome nominations from the SIG leadership through October 15th for the official ballot. We will be voting at the SIG Cabinet meeting - 8am (!!!) on Sunday October 24th.
3 SIG Cabinet Advisors (AKA, at-large members of the SIG Steering Committee). I welcome nominations of your colleagues (or yourself!) for these low-key but important leadership positions within ASIS&T. Duties of the Steering Committee include assisting the Cabinet Director and Deputy Director in management of the SIGs, including in evaluating and approving Project and Reserve Fund requests, serving as liaisons between a group of SIGs and the Committee, and serving on the Juries for SIG Member of the Year and SIG Publication of the Year. We keep in somewhat regular email contact and occasionally have teleconferences to discuss topics such as the updating of the SIG Officer's Manual, changes to the finance system for SIGs, and other topics as arise either from the SIGs or from the Board of Directors. Continuing members of the Steering Committee are myself as Director, Shelly Warwick as Deputy Director, and Nadia Caidi as an Advisor. This is a two-year term, renewable. Members of the Steering Committee must be SIG officers at the time of their election, though they do not have to be SIG officers for the duration of their service.
1 SIG Cabinet Representative to the SIG of the Year Jury. This person evaluates submissions to the SIG of the Year competition and votes according to a rubric to select the winner. All work is done online, mostly via the SoftConf system that is also used for conference reviews. Work is concentrated from August 15-September 15th. This is a two-year term, not renewable. Any active member may hold this position. It is requested that members of SIG USE and SIG III NOT hold this position, unless they feel they can be unbiased in voting (i.e., not need to recuse themselves).
Please consider nominating yourself or another officer or active member in your SIG! I will need a name, confirmation that the nomination is acceptable to the nominee, and a brief bio by October 15th. Voting will take place at the SIG Cabinet meeting at the Annual Meeting.

ASIS&T SIG Cabinet Director, 2009-2011
