MDE Assistant Commissioner Karen Klinzing has asked that I forward this message on to the library community.


 I am pleased to announce that Nancy Walton, a current department specialist within the Library Services Division at the Minnesota Department of Education has accepted the offer from the Commissioner's Office to serve as the Acting Director for the Minnesota State Libraries Services Division in the Minnesota Department of Education. Nancy has two decades of experience working with libraries and library policy in the State of Minnesota as well as corporate experience from job positions she held prior to her service with the state. Ms. Walton has also previously served in a supervisory role for the state of Minnesota at the Braille Talking Book Library in Faribault. The Department knows that Nancy can step in easily and responsibly to run the State Libraries Division and keep the public libraries serviced well throughout the state. Ms. Walton will serve in this position as the state conducts a search for the next State Librarian to follow in the footsteps of former state librarian Suzanne Miller.
