University Relations at the University of Minnesota has a position 
opening for an Electronic Communications Manager.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

- Bring Web industry learning and strategic leadership to the 
University of Minnesota's online presence.

- Provide high-level consultation to various University 
teams/units/colleges using the Web as a communication, task, or 
engagement vehicle.

- Develop and continually update a strategic plan for all University 
Relations (UR) electronic communications that incorporates and 
leverages new and upcoming technologies and shifts priority from an 
institution-centered to a user-centered Web presence.

- Oversee the redesign (currently in progress) and maintenance plan 
for the University of Minnesota home Web site and related secondary site(s).

- Oversee the system-wide use and training on the use of the Lyris 
ListManager mass e-mail system.

- Understand client needs and manage day-to-day communication and 
issue resolution among all project stakeholders in a professional and 
positive manner.

- Translate high-level business goals and requirements into a 
system-wide integrated Web and e-mail strategy.

- Work with UR staff to effectively and efficiently build UR digital 
content and structure, and maximize potential for each unit's communications.

- Prioritize tasks, take initiative, and provide follow-through to 
streamline processes and create an effective and efficient workflow. 
Develop and maintain timelines for various site redesigns, usability 
testing, and a system to track and report statistics of Web site activity.

- Encourage University units to use all possible system-wide 
capabilities to enhance the University's electronic presence and 
communications. This includes strategic and consistent use of Web 
content management (Oracle), data management, mass e-mail (Lyris 
ListManager), and promotion of digital communication templates, 
policy, and standards.

- Work closely with the Office of Information Technology to maximize 
University Relations' Web potential.

- See that University of Minnesota Web and e-mail technology matches 
industry standards and government regulations.

- Create, review, and revise applicable University digital 
communications policies as needed.

- Proactively champion the ongoing application of SEO (Search Engine 
Optimization) principles and tools to consistently secure high search 
engine rankings for the University's Web sites.

- Serve as principal contact to vendors and service providers.

- Supervise Web and multimedia developers and programmers.
