Contract with potential opportunity for hire
Job Purpose
This position assists in providing Web-based solutions for a
team-based knowledge management corporate library environment,
supporting the efforts of the eKnowledge Center Business
Operations team. The goal of the effort is to advance business
results through deliberate use of information and knowledge as a
competitive advantage. Preference will be given to those with a
combination of technical knowledge and library experience or
education.
Key Assignments and Tasks
· Code, test, debug and maintain dynamic Web applications.
· Provide database support for reporting and development of
dynamic Web sites
· Produce and update graphics for internal Web sites and print
publications
· Design html marketing emails
· Create graphics for internal plasma screens
· Other tasks as assigned
Key Responsibilities:
Associate Web Editor - 60%
Responsibilities will include preparation of content for
publication on the eKnowledge Center Platform, HTML programming,
basic SQL query commands, graphic design (e.g. Photoshop). The
team member will work closely with content editors to integrate a
variety of content and media to present a highly-tuned knowledge
environment for internal scientists, engineers, and business
decision makers.
Web Communications and Systems Specialist - 40%
Assist in resolving business problems with Web technologies and
communications. Provide technical Web and database support for
programs, educational events and conferences. Includes building
Web based reports, online transactional forms, html formatted
emails, and other Web-based solutions to streamline processes and
communications. As part of a team, helps implement and maintain
new or revised library and knowledge management computer systems.
Required Skills
· HTML skills and comfortable using Dreamweaver to program dynamic
code (ColdFusion preferred)
· Familiar with basic SQL query commands (Insert, Delete, Update,
Select,)
· Understanding of web site standards and limitations
· Able to create and edit images for Web use using Adobe Photoshop
7.0 or above
· Comfortable with MS Office applications (MS Access, Outlook, Word,
PowerPoint & Excel)
· Excellent communication skills (writing, proofing, and editing)
· Ability to work in highly dynamic environment
· Quick learner & ability to organize/prioritize tasks
Preferred Skills
· Library science education or work experience
· Familiarity with library technical tools (SFX, cataloging
software, etc.)
· Experience with style sheets
· Previous e-mail layout & design work
· ColdFusion or equivalent (ASP, PHP, PERL, .NET)
· Javascript
· Flash experience
· Basic understanding of Windows networking (IP addresses and
subnets)
· Knowledge of RSS News feeds and XML basics
Required Education & Experience
· Bachelor degree in related field
· 1+ years work experience
o Portfolio of past work is helpful.
