Just a reminder to register for the fall meeting!
*********************************************************
It's that time of the year again! Mark your calendars and send in your
registration today for our first fall meeting. Please join the Minnesota
Chapters of the Special Libraries Association and ASIST for a fun and
informative evening of networking and professional development:
JUGGLING GENERATIONS
Have you ever said to yourself, "What was she thinking-where did that come
from?"
Maybe it came from her generation's perspective.
Maybe your reaction came from your generation's perspective.
Never have the differences between generations been as divergent as they
are today. Each of us balances those differences at work, at home, in the
community, and in some instances in the entire world. The better we
understand our own generation and the others around us the more effective
we will be in all of our relationships.
Carol Larsen, Senior Consultant Services Manager at Personnel Decisions
International (PDI) and Bill Baldus, PDI Consultant, will present an
overview of inter-generational differences, how to cross invisible barriers
between them, and explore the possibility of tapping generational resources
for their unique talents and strengths.
Carol has a broad background in consulting, training development and
delivery, and management. Her interest in generational differences was
peaked in the 1980's when she first viewed Dr. Morris Massey's videotape,
"What You Are Is Where You Were When." Over the years other researchers and
authors have explored generational differences and Baby Boomers, Gen X and
Gen Y have become common phrases in our society. Carol is degreed in Speech
Communication and has experience both in-house and as an independent
consultant with Wilson Learning.
Bill Baldus is an X'er and brings his unique perspective to the
generational differences because of his client consulting work and project
management activity at PDI. Bill is recognized for his highly developed
humor and collaborative style. Bill's experience includes extensive work
with international students at the University of Minnesota where he
interfaced successfully with multiple generations and cultures.
Join us for a session that may challenge your generational perceptions and
add to your relationship knowledge base.
