Dear Chapters:
I am looking forward to seeing some of you at the Annual Meeting in
Baltimore. However, a few chapters will be unable to send
representatives to the meeting. To facilitate participation, I am
proposing two things: 1) online voting before the meeting and 2)
skyping in participants to Chapter Assembly. I know that the sound
quality won't be fantastic, but we will try to make this work.
Voting before the meeting will free up our time to discuss some very
pressing issues for chapters. Many chapters are having difficult times
and I would like to discuss some options for alleviating these
pressures on chapters. Suggestions that have been proposed for
discussion include: changes in dues for chapter members, student
chapter representation at chapter assembly, and resources for managing
chapters with physically disparate populations. I hope we can get to a
discussion on all of these topics.
Therefore, I would like to make a call for nominations for all
positions: Deputy Director, Director, Chapter Representative to the
ASIST Chapter of the Year Jury, and Chapter Representative to the
ASIST Nominations committee.
You might recall that we voted to change the duration of time for the
Deputy Director and Director from separate two year terms, to a
combined three year term as Deputy, then Director, then past
Director--in keeping with other similar positions within ASIST.
Please let me know if you have any questions about these positions. I
will take nominations until October 1.
Best,
Cassidy
