I believe I already sent this out but if I forgot im sending it again

There is an upcoming vote on

ISO/FDIS 17316, Information and documentation - International standard link
identifier (ISLI)

This International Standard specifies an identifier of links between
entities in the field of information and documentation. These entities may
be media resources, people or more abstract items such as times or places.
The ISLI system identifies links between entities that are related to each
other so that, for instance, they can be rendered simultaneously. It does
this by registering each identifier with information (metadata) that
specifies the link. The ISLI does not change the content, ownership, right
of access or existing identification of these entities.

This is expected to be the final draft of this standard and if approved, it
can proceed directly to publication.

A copy of the draft standard is available from the ballot webpage or the
link in the announcement e-mail.

Your voting options are:

Yes - approve for publication [comments optional and should be editorial]
No - do not approve for publication [comments required and should be
substantive]
Abstain from voting [comments optional]

I need comments and a recommendation for a vote by August 17

I have a attached the current document to this note

My personal view is

1) This standard sets up a complicated registration system and Im not
sure what it gets you that URLs don't already do

2) There doesn't seem to be any details on what happens if an
organization transfers an ISLI to another organization - but perhaps the
procedures of the registration authorities will deal with that issue

3) There is no mention of cost involved for registering an ISLI so it
could wind up costing

On the plus side the standard does mandate certain metadata that needs to be
included to register an ISLI
