Folks
some votes coming up in the next few weeks (i have attached all of the
relevant documents to this message)
1)ISO/DTR 18128, Information and documentation — Risk identification and
assessment for records systems
This is the second ballot for the draft technical report ISO/DTR 18128,
Information and documentation — Risk identification and assessment for
records systems.
This Technical Report intends to assist organizations in managing risks
with respect to records and records systems, so they can ensure records
are of value to the organization and the identified business needs as
long as required.
This new draft was edited to address comments received on the previous
draft; in particular to provide better alignment with ISO 30300 and ISO
30301, the two SC11 baseline standards for Management system of records
covering fundamentals, vocabulary, and requirements.
A copy of the technical report is available for download from the ballot
webpage or the link in the announcement e-mail.
Your ballot options are:
Yes -- approve for publication (editorial comments optional)
No -- do not approve (comments required)
Abstain from voting (reason required)
If this technical report is approved, it may proceed directly to
publication.
Comments and suggestion for vote needed by 4/20 - this is only a
technical report not a proposed standard
2) New Work Item Proposal, ISO/NP 30302 Information and documentation –
Management systems for records – Guidelines for implementation
The proposed standard is a guide for how to implement the previously
published standard: ISO 30301 - Information and documentation -
Management system for records - requirements.
Since this standard is part of SC11's "Management system for records", a
justification study is required in addition to the new work item
proposal. ISO Management system standards (MSS) are a related set of
standards that an organization needs to follow in order to meet its
objectives. They provide a model to follow when setting up and operating
in the area covered by the MSS, in this case "records management." The
justification study is required to ensure market relevance,
compatibility with other standards in that MSS family, flexibility
across industry sectors, ease of use, and lack of barriers to free trade.
Included with this ballot are thus three documents: 1) the new work item
proposal; 2) the justification study; and 3) a working draft of the
proposed standard. These documents are available for download from the
ballot webpage and the links in the announcement e-mail.
If the US sends in an Approve vote for this new project, we are required
to also provide comments on the "market need" for this standard and to
nominate at least one expert to the working group. If you vote Yes,
please provide your comments on the "market need". If you wish to
nominate an expert, please include the name and contact information in
your comments.
Your voting options are:
Yes - approve the creation of this new project (Comments required
regarding market relevance; expert nomination is optional.)
No - do not approve this new project (comments required)
Abstain from voting (comments optional)
Comments and a suggestion for a vote needed by 4/24
3) ISO/CD 18626, Information and documentation -- Interlibrary Loan
Transactions
This International Standard specifies the transactions between libraries
or libraries and other agencies to handle requests for library items and
following exchange of messages. This standard is intended to at first
supplement and eventually succeed the existing international standards
ISO 10160, ISO 10161-1 and ISO 10161-2. The introduction of the draft
standard provides some background on the relationship of the new
standard to the previous one.
A copy of the draft standard is available for download from the ballot
webpage and the announcement e-mail.
Your voting options are:
Yes - approve this standard for advancement to the next stage - DIS
(comments are optional and may be substantive or editorial)
No - do not approve this standard for advancement to the DIS stage
(comments are required and should be substantive)
Abstain from voting (comments optional)

4) ISO/CD 5127, Information and documentation -- Vocabulary
This standard provides the basic terminologies and their definitions in
the field of information and documentation, which promotes knowledge
sharing and information exchange in the domain of information and
documentation.
Since this standard provides the key definitions that other standards in
the TC46 portfolio will often refer to, you are encouraged to thoroughly
review and comment on this draft. Comments can include the addition of
terms and definitions that you feel are missing from the standard in
addition to comments on what is included.
A copy of the draft standard is available for download from the ballot
webpage and the link in the announcement e-mail. NOTE: The title on the
draft standard is incorrectly listed as Information and documentation —
Records management systems — Fundamentals and vocabulary. That is the
title of another published standard (ISO 30300). The text of the draft
standard, however, is the correct text for this ballot.
Your voting options are:
Yes - approve for advancement to DIS stage (comments optional and may be
editorial or substantive)
No - do not approve for advancement to DIS (comments required and should
be substantive)
Abstain from voting (comments optional)
Comments and a suggestion for a vote needed by 5/1
