Mark,
I do not think we should vote Yes on this one.

Subject: [Asis-standards] ISO/IEC FDIS 17024, Conformity assessment -
General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons

Here is another standard - this one has a short turn around time so I
need comments by Monday 4/30 in the morning

This is another one of ISO non standard standards - it has a lot of
apple pie and Motherhood statements but really doesnt go beyond
generalities to specifics - and doesnt define any mechanism for
enforcing any of the rules it stipulates

For example - one statement says

When a certification body certifies a person it employs, the
certification body shall adopt procedures to maintain impartiality

All well and nice - but of course it doesnt define what those procedures

should be - or any mechanism for checking that impartiality was
maintained - or even what impartiality is

in the definition of impartiality (in the definitions section) it
defines impartiality as

presence of objectivity

with some notes that say

NOTE 1 Objectivity means that conflicts of interest do not exist, or are

resolved, so as not to adversely influence subsequent activities of the
certification body

NOTE 2 Other terms that are useful in conveying the element of
impartiality are: independence, freedom from conflict of interests,
freedom from bias, lack of prejudice, neutrality, fairness,
open-mindedness, even-handedness, detachment, balance.

im tired of all these crappy documents that are coming out of ISO - but
Im also given up on fighting it so Im tempted to vote YES just because
its easier

But Im open to other suggestions

Ive attached the document to this note
