Do you approve the appointment of the Finnish Standards Association as
Secretariat and Juha Hakala as Chair of TC46/SC4

*Description*
THIS IS A SHORT TURN-AROUND BALLOT.



The current Secretariat (Standards New Zealand) and Chair (Alison
Elliott, National Library New Zealand) of TC46/SC4 have resigned.
Following a call for interest to take over the positions, the Finnish
Standards Association (SFS) has offered to take over the Secretariat and
has nominated Juha Hakala (The National Library of Finland) as Secretary.



A ballot has been issued to approve these nominations. This is the NISO
ballot for preparation of the U.S. position.



SC4 is the subcommittee on Technical Interoperability. They have been
responsible for such standards as: International standard identifier for
libraries and related organizations (ISIL); the international versions
of The Dublin Core metadata element set, Z39.50, the Common Command
Language, and the Format for information exchange; MarcXchange, and the
recent three-part standard on RFID in Libraries. Currently under
discussion is the ISO standardization of EPUB.



Two documents are available with this ballot:



ISO/TC 046, N 2332, Draft Resolutions 2011-17, 2011-18 on SC 4
Secretariat, Chair (containing the resolution being voted on)



ISO/TC 046, N 2329, SFS (Finland) offer for SC 4 Secretariat (includes
names of proposed chair and secretary)



Many of you may know Juha Hakala. He has been involved with NISO
standards projects for many years as well as in TC46 standardization. He
is the current chair of the TC46/SC9 project on the International
Standard Collection Identifier (ISCI). The National Library of Finland
has been a NISO voting member. He has a profile on Linked In if you'd

The Finnish Standards Association is the equivalent of ANSI in Finland.
