2016 NDSR Washington, DC Symposium: "Digital Frenemies-Closing the Gap between Born-Digital and Made-Digital Curation"

This symposium will showcase thought leaders from academic and cultural heritage institutions, who are at the vanguard of tackling the biggest challenges to digital stewardship. Come join us at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland for a day of compelling talks that address the relationship between digitized and born-digital material.

Why "Digital Frenemies"? The current cohort began their residencies in DC Metro Area libraries, federal agencies, and professional organizations in June 2015. Since then, the group has observed trends in digital stewardship that bifurcate field expertise into born-digital asset management and expertise in digitization. We believe the future will be largely be defined by the symbiotic relationships between content creation, format migration, and where user communities intersect, rather than focusing on challenges specific to each area of the field.
