Hi all,
We are creating a new monthly drinks/networking evening in/around the Midlands (UK) for people who are co-interested in areas around Information Science and Human-Computer Interaction. The aim is to bring together people from different universities, ischools, and HCI/CS labs.
The main aim: to chat, to share, to network, to spark future collaborations
Details
- 1st Wednesday of Every Month @7pm - ish
- Initial Venue: The Canalhouse, Nottingham (2mins walk from station)
- Event Website: http://mid-hib-meetup.eventbrite.co.uk/
- Please let us know you are coming (in case we need to warn the venue of a crowd)
- Twitter: #mishmeet
FIRST EVENT: 4th July 2012
- special guest: Michael Twidale is in town
Some Key People Involved:
Max L. Wilson - Lecturer in HCI/InfoSeek in Nottingham
Elaine Toms - Profressor at Sheffield iSchool
Tom Jackson - Senior Lectuer at Loughborough iSchool

Its not yet a SIG or a chapter of some sort, but it's aim is to grow, and in the future include things like mini-talks etc. Let's see! Sadly, food/drinks are not yet provided/sponsored. But food/drink is good at the venue. We also intend to congregate at other venues/events, like the BCS HCI conference in Birmingham in september that month.
All welcome - to come, chat, eat, drink, and... be merry i suppose.
Please forward to your colleagues/friends in the UK.
Max
