The Dalhousie School of Information Management (SIM) invites
applications for a three-year term appointment at the level of
Lecturer commencing July 1, 2012.
The School offers two graduate programs and contributes to a
collaboratively-delivered undergraduate program. At the graduate
level, SIM provides the American Library Association-accredited Master
of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) program, and the mid-career
online Master of Information Management (MIM) program. At the
undergraduate level, the School provides core and elective courses in
the Bachelor of Management program, notably in the Knowledge
Management major.
The School is part of the interdisciplinary Faculty of Management,
with the Schools of Business Administration, Public Administration,
Resource and Environmental Studies, and the Marine Affairs Program.
The Faculty of Management has a commitment to values-based management
with a focus on sustainability, and getting things done. We seek an
additional colleague who will contribute to, and thrive in, this

The successful candidate will have:
? MLIS or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
? Professional experience in the private or public sectors as a
qualified information management professional.
? Experience teaching at the graduate level is required. Experience
in undergraduate teaching, as well as with online tools and pedagogy,
will be an asset.
? Proven track record of success with strategically engaging target
audiences using contemporary and emerging marketing techniques and
tools.
? Research experience relating to the private or public sector will be
an asset.
The successful candidate will contribute to the School?s research
agenda. The candidate will have prior professional and instructional
experience relevant for teaching core or elective courses in at least
two of the School?s programs in the following areas:
? Information and user services
? Public and private sector information management
? Information policy
Marketing of the MIM program in the private and public sectors is a
required component of this position and may require some travel.
