Job Summary
Provides complex professional support in development, installation, and
maintenance of a computer-based archival preservation system; will be in a
supportive and creative role; works with data in the form of manipulation,
processing, conversion, abstractions, and modeling, specifically within
relational database systems; participation and coordination with diverse
team of archivists, information technologists, and stakeholders; will be
responsible for developing creative, technical, functioning, aesthetically
pleasing solutions given a range of requirements.
 
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an information technology related field; one to three
years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work
experience in information technology, including design and construction of
Web-based applications using Java platform; experience in user interface
design, Web site creation (HTML, XML), programming in Java, C, and C+++,
Oracle database design, and server-based batch and background processes; or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Applicant must be prepared to provide examples of past work that pass
accepted community standards.
 
Desired Qualifications
Good communication skills; experience in a library or archives environment;
an understanding of or a desire to learn about archival practices,
Archivists Toolkit and iRODS (integrated Rule-Oriented Data System);
familiarity with any or all of the following: Windows, Unix, Linux, DSpace,
Fedora, and Mac (OS X) environments; knowledge of integration of multiple
disconnected, heterogeneous systems; ability to work directly with
customers; accessible interface design skills; familiarity with
client/server interaction and transaction handling; knowledgeable on data
mining and information retrieval; ability to work independently and with
others in a professional manner.
