*Call for Paper Proposals
STS Research Forum, ACRL Science and Technology Section (STS), ALA Annual
Conference, Chicago, IL 2009
*The ACRL Science and Technology Section's (STS) Research Committee
invites submission of
abstracts of research papers to be given at the STS Forum for Science &
Technology Library
Research on Sunday, July 12, 2009, from 4:00-5:30 pm at the ALA Annual
Conference in
Chicago, IL. The Research Forum provides an excellent opportunity to
share recent research or
research ideas addressing issues in science and technology librarianship
in its broadest sense.
Please submit proposals for one of the following two categories:
*(1) Featured Paper Presentation. *The Featured Paper Presentation is 30
minutes in
length and is followed by a thoughtful critique from a guest commentator
who offers
suggestions on how to prepare the paper for publication. Proposals
should reflect
research that has been completed or initiatives that have already been
implemented. At
a minimum, significant progress should have been made toward completion or
implementation.
*(2) Short Paper Presentations. *Short Papers are 10 minutes in length
and describe
research or initiatives that have been completed or are currently in
progress. Short
papers may also solicit feedback on research ideas that are being
formulated, outlining
possible approaches and asking attendees and the guest commentator for their
response.
One Featured Paper proposal and three Short Paper proposals will be
selected through a blind
review process on the basis of timeliness, evidence of scholarship, and
relevance to science
and technology librarianship. For a list of additional criteria, please see:

ABSTRACT: The abstract should not exceed 250 words. The following
information must be
included: presentation category (Featured or Short Paper), title and
purpose of the project, its
scope, methodology, conclusions, and relevance to science and technology
librarianship.
Priority for the Featured Paper will be given to proposals that indicate
research analyses, either
quantitative or qualitative.
*DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: Monday, January 12, 2008*. Review of
submissions will begin immediately by the STS Research Committee.
PAPERS: Acceptance of proposals reflects a commitment by the author(s)
to provide
presentations of 10 minutes (Short Paper) or 30 minutes (Feature Paper)
at the ALA Annual
Conference in Chicago, IL.
