celebrated scholars in the field of human-computer interaction and
digital libraries, Dr. Gary Marchionini from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science.
2006 CISTA Award recipient & featured speaker Dr. Gary Marchionini will
present "Toward Multimedia Surrogation." This talk will explore the
nature of surrogates for digital information. A multidimensional
continuum of representations for information objects is crucial to
knowledge work in a digitally enabled multimedia environment. Gary will
outline a framework for this space and illustrate its genesis with
examples from work with the Open Video Digital Library and federal
statistical websites.
