Electronic Resources Librarian
Tenure-Track
Position
Newly created position, focused on the effective management of electronic resources. In close collaboration with personnel from appropriate Library units, coordinates support for the acquisition, processing, and maintenance of electronic resources throughout their "life cycle."
Responsibilities
Participates as a member of the Electronic Collection Development, MetaLib, and SFX Teams. Manages the workflow related to updating and maintaining SFX, EZ-Proxy, and Metalib applications. Contributes to assessment and evaluation of electronic resources and their delivery systems. Conducts research and analysis of products, aggregators, and services, providing technical reviews as needed. Oversees creation and maintenance of a central repository of information on electronic resources, including data on licensing, access, and copyright; specifically, investigates and implements new technology, such as electronic resource management systems, to improve workflow and integrate disparate operational components. Assures reliable user access to resources through quality control and troubleshooting efforts. Supports and maintains administrative data for electronic resources, including collecting and analyzing usage statistics and other management reports. Serves as a liaison to relevant CSU system-wide efforts. Monitors development of the e-publishing industry and related issues. Promotes understanding of such issues among all library units. Provides direct public service to users, in assignment(s) complementary to primary responsibilities. Also serves on department, library, and university committees. Librarians at CSUF have faculty status and are expected to meet promotion and tenure requirements, which include professional and scholarly activities.
Qualifications
Requirements include:
· Master's degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent institution by the time of appointment
· Ability to analyze, implement and adapt to evolving technologies
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Effectiveness in balancing multiple assignments and projects
· Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
· Ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural environment within and outside the Library.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in managing electronic resources, including maintaining and troubleshooting electronic resource management systems, OpenURL linking services, proxy servers, and federated search tools. Evidence of interest in professional development activities, including publication, is preferred.
Rank & Salary
The position will be tenure-track at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian to Associate Librarian. Salary range will be $54,000-$67,000, commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications. Excellent comprehensive benefits are available and include two working days paid vacation per month, one day per month sick leave accumulative, 14 paid holidays, health/vision/dental plans, optional 10/12 month work year; defined-benefit retirement through the state system, along with optional tax-sheltering opportunities; spousal and/or dependent fee-waiver as well as access to campus child-care and affordable housing program.

CSUF Irvine Campus/Outreach Librarian
Tenure-Track
Position
Newly created position, focused on the effective coordination of the library at CSUF's Irvine campus as well as outreach efforts.
Responsibilities
Serves as the Library's primary contact for CSUF's evolving satellite campus, in the city of Irvine, which is envisioned as a key resource in the development of a multi-faceted planned community. Oversees onsite operation of library and supervises library assistant staff. Coordinates efforts of other library faculty involved in Irvine campus services. Provides reference, instruction, collection development, and other services, as appropriate. Participates in regular meetings among key Irvine campus personnel and contributes to administrative activities, such as anticipated space-planning for new physical facilities. Promotes library use and services among the satellite campus community. Collaborates closely with main campus personnel, in all areas of library operation. Significant additional assignments in one or more relevant main library units (on site in Fullerton) will be based on organizational need and incumbent qualifications; these may include outreach efforts, instruction, reference, access services, and/or systems activities. Also serves on department, library, and university committees. Librarians at CSUF have faculty status and are expected to meet promotion and tenure requirements, which include professional and scholarly activities.

The Library
The University Library contains a collection of over 2,000,000 items in a variety of formats: 1,189,000 books; 3,690 currently received periodical subscriptions; 400,000 government documents; and over 150 electronic databases. Recognized by ACRL for its "Best Practices in Information Literacy," Pollak Library offers an excellent library instruction program that emphasizes student-centered learning and utilizes state-of-the-art information technology in classroom settings. Library's Web site (http://www.library.fullerton.edu) is a vital component of the Library's extensive instruction program and serves as a gateway to resources. The Library uses the Innovative Interfaces integrated library system as well as the Ex Libris MetaLib and SFX applications. As an early adopter of several initiatives to provide a wide array of digital resources to campus users, the Library is committed to continued development of such services. The staff includes 22 librarians and 36 paraprofessionals, plus approximately 33 FTE student assistants. The CSU has been under collective bargaining agreements since 1982.
