Senior Information Scientist
Wyeth Research has an immediate opportunity available in our Pearl River, NY research center.
A scientific background is vital and you will be working closely with our biomedical research staff to support their information needs. You will participate in all areas of R&D including playing a vital role on drug discovery and development teams. You will interact with scientific staff within our therapeutic of Vaccine Research, anticipating and responding to information inquiries and using literature, patent, and other information searching skills. You will participate on information management projects to bring scientific information in innovative forms to individuals' desktops. You will develop and present training programs to facilitate the effective use of company-wide desktop information resources. In addition, you will contribute content to our Intranet and support our ongoing Current Awareness and Knowledge Management initiatives. You will be joining a global team of scientific and information specialists committed to excellence and willing to train and support the right people.
Requirements
The qualified candidate will possess a strong biological, biochemical, or pharmacological background and a desire to build a satisfying career in information management. A Ph.D. in a biological discipline with 1-2 years' research experience is preferred. Experience in searching commercial biomedical information is desirable. Key attributes are an ability to evaluate, analyze, and organize complex information. You must possess proven ability to work independently and responsibly. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Additionally, a demonstrated ability to work well within projects and teams is essential. Knowledge and experience in data mining is a plus.
