The Department of Library and Information Science at Rutgers University
seeks candidates for four positions, beginning Fall, 2005. Two are
tenure-track or tenured positions; one is a visiting Assistant/Associate
Profesor position; the fourth is an Instructor position. The areas in
which we are searching are, respectively: human aspects of information
behavior, systems, services and technologies; children's and youth
services and literature; and, public services and technologies in

TENURE-TRACK OR TENURED FACULTY POSITION AVAILABLE!
The Department of Library and Information Science at Rutgers University
seeks a new faculty member, to begin in Fall 2005, whose teaching and
research interests center on the human side of information systems,
services and technologies.
We seek a dedicated, dynamic scholar who will continue to help us to
build upon our strengths or open innovative paths in one or more general
areas of:
• HUMAN INFORMATION BEHAVIOR
• INFORMATION SEEKING AND USE
• HUMAN-COMPUTER INTERACTION
• HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND SERVICES
• SOCIAL INFORMATICS, and/or
• HUMAN AND SOCIAL ASPECTS OF DIGITAL LIBRARIES
Appointment will be made at tenure-track or tenured level, depending
upon qualifications. The candidate will hold a Ph.D. degree in library
and information science, computer science or related relevant fields.
For a tenure-track position the successful candidate will have
demonstrated promise in both teaching and research. For the tenured
position the successful candidate will have an established record of
internationally-recognized research, of high-quality teaching, and of
significant academic or professional leadership
The Department of Library and Information Science is in the School of
Communication, Information and Library Studies, an interdisciplinary
school with departments of Communication and of Journalism and Media
Studies. Members of the Department teach in its undergraduate program in
Information Technology and Informatics, in the Masters Program in
Library and Information Science, in the school-wide Ph.D. Program in
Communication, Information and Library Studies, and in the Masters in
Communication and Information Studies offered by the Department of
Communication.

disciplinary boundaries to integrate the common elements of people,
information and technology. Our faculty developed various innovative
