METADATA LIBRARIAN AND TEAM LEADER
SPECIAL PROJECTS TEAM
Catalog Department
University of Oregon Libraries (Eugene)
Reports to the Head, Catalog Dept. Utilizes a variety of metadata schemes
(Dublin Core, EAD, MARC, etc.) to organize and provide access to the
Libraries' research collections, both print and digital. Provides
leadership and technical expertise in the investigation and application of
new metadata standards, including developing data dictionaries, defining
input standards, proposing local policies and procedures, investigating
metadata structures and search interfaces, and coordinating continuing
education for other library staff in the emerging standards.
Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree; knowledge of non-MARC metadata schemes
and evolving standards, with experience applying one or more of them;
knowledge of HTML, XML; demonstrated problem-solving, workflow analysis,
and project leadership skills.
