Dear ASIST students and advisors,
First off, thanks to all who submitted their reports on time. Remember - if your student chapter did not submit a report before, you need to do it now - the deadline is Oct. 30.
The jury worked very hard to review the submitted reports/nominations and provide their comments. These are already sent back to the nominators. Based on jury’s comments, scores, and deliberations, we are happy to announce the following awards for this year.
Student Chapter-of-the-Year
The Simmons GSLIS ASIS&T student chapter had another exceptionally active 2013-2014. They also worked on building their membership base through creative outreach and marketing strategies. As one of the jury members put it, this is an in credibly large and active student chapter - they have over 400 members with an increase of 41 in just the last year. They have put on an impressive number of events, both social and technical with the technical events being a mix of practical topics and research activities. They collaborate closely with NEASIST and their events seem to be well organized, well publicized and well presented.
Chapter Growth Awards
[This is the new award that’s based on % increase in a chapter’s membership over the last year. The awards include free registrations to ASIST Annual Meeting in Seattle.]
1. Catholic University (three free student registrations)
2. Indiana University (two free student registrations)
3. UT Austin (one free student registration)
Congratulations to all the winners. We hope to see you all at the ASIST conference in Seattle. Look out for more details on student party!
Sincerely,
Chirag Shah, Rutgers University
