From candy.schwartz at simmons.edu Wed Oct 25 13:15:43 2006 From: candy.schwartz at simmons.edu (Candy Schwartz) Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2006 13:15:43 -0400 Subject: [Studentchapadv] Annual meeting Message-ID: <000101c6f859$34356490$fd998c86@ad.simmons.edu> Hi all - The annual meeting of ASIST Student Chapter Advisors will be held at 5pm (oh yay - not 7am) on Monday November 6 in Room 415 (wherever that is). I will bring an agenda, but if there is anything you would particularly like to discuss, please let me know. I would much appreciate it if you would check the information on this page - http://www.asis.org/Chapters/chapters-student.html - and make sure that it is current. You might also take this opportunity to think about whether you want to turn over the reins to someone new. In theory there is a term limit, but most of us have been advisors forever. I am finally leaving my advisorship after the annual meeting, and turning it over to a wonderful new colleague, Sheila Denn. If your chapter is dormant, and you think that it cannot be revived, please let me know whether you want to recommend dissolution. Finally - we need a new chapter assembly representative. I am not going to take this on for another year, and I am seeking volunteers. I will tell you that it is a lot of fun. It's a matter of keeping on top of changes and so on, and thinking about what you can do in the way of service to ASIST students. PLEASE VOLUNTEER - YOUR SOCIETY NEEDS YOU! (and so do I). Thanks - hope to see some of you in Austin. There is no budget - it comes out of the pocket of the assembly rep (who was foolish enough to start it), so if you see me during the meeting, I wouldn't take it amiss if you threw a couple of bucks my way. I wish there were a "dean of LIS programs" listserv list - I would hit them up. Hit your own dean up on my behalf (I did last year - my dean kicked in quite a bit). Don't get me wrong - I like it not being a formal hotel-catered event - it's cheap wine and food and more fun. But 70 is a lot of mouths to feed. Dick - hope the suite holds a lot of people!
