The Consortium is sponsored by the American Medical Informatics Association's (AMIA) People and Organizational Working Group along with the International Medical Informatics Association's (IMIA) Organizational and Social Issues Working Group. The Doctoral Consortium is a forum in which doctoral students can meet and discuss their work with each other and with a panel of experienced researchers and practitioners. We welcome applicants from a broad range of disciplines and approaches that inform medical informatics, including the social sciences, humanities, computer and information sciences, clinical sciences, law, and related fields. Applicants should be beyond the proposal stage and well into their research. The Consortium committee will select approximately 10 to 12 participants who will be expected to give short, informal presentations of their work during the Consortium, to be followed by a discussion. This is specifically for MASTERS LEVEL students. Get your best students entered! The Award URL is http://www.asis.org/awards/researchpaper.html Briefly: The award shall consist of round-trip travel expenses and full registration for the ASIS&T annual meeting, not to exceed $500, to be paid by Pratt Institute; a certificate; and possible submission of the paper for publication in the Journal of the American Society for Information Science (JASIST). The purpose of this award is to encourage student research and writing in the field of information science. Any student in a Masters degree-granting institution can submit a paper. Doctoral theses are not eligible. Papers submitted must fall into the scope of JASIST and must be endorsed by a faculty sponsor for submission to the contest. Papers submitted should be original manuscripts (not previously published) and should not be submitted to other publications or groups while they are being considered by the Jury.
