“Mapping the Positive Turn for Information Science”
½ day Workshop (afternoon) at the
iConference in Philadelphia, PA, Sunday, March 20, 2016
Dear Fellow SIG-USErs,
Please join us a a 1/2 day Workshop at the iConference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the afternoon of Sunday, March 20, 2016.
The gathering, "Mapping the Positive Turn for Information Science," brings together scholars, students, and practitioners to discuss current research around positive information phenomena, that is: information behaviour and practices in everyday life and leisure settings that are deemed upbeat and non-problematical.
Our purpose is to further discuss this research area, review the literature, and connect with developments in the other fields. We also aim to fortify a community of practice and seed collaborations for the future.
The session includes a keynote by Dr. Robert A. Stebbins, architect of The Serious Leisure Perspective and author of Leisure and Positive Psychology (2015); short statements from leading researchers in this domain; and ample time for group discussion.
Additional information is available at the Workshop website.
We believe your contribution to the conversation is important and hope you will join us.
Of note, early registration rates for the iConference have been extended to February 1st. The Workshop costs $75.00 on top of standard registration fees; details are at the iConference website.
All the best wishes,
Jenna Hartel and the Workshop Team (Andrew Cox, Brian Griffin, Robert A. Stebbins)
