**With apologies for cross-posting**

Dear Colleagues,

It’s that time of year again: the Altmetric Top 100 for 2017 is here
<https://www.altmetric.com/top100/2017/> This annual list highlights the
academic research that has attracted the most attention amongst academics
and a wider audience over the previous 12 months.

The list places research debunking the commonly held belief that fat
consumption is bad for your health as the No.1 article of the year (a
finding I personally am thrilled to hear about--bring on the cheese!). It
was joined in the top three by papers highlighting the negative impact of
stress on mental health, and the positive impact choosing a female doctor
can have on your longevity.

You can explore the Top 100 in full at:

For those who enjoy podcasts, our friends at Digital Science have produced
a fantastic episode featuring authors from the top 3 papers
<https://soundcloud.com/digitalsci/the-altmetric-top-100> and an interview
with Richard Horton, Editor of The Lancet, who discusses the importance
they place on disseminating research.

We'd love to know what you think - tweet us @altmetric or join the

Kind regards,
