Abstract:
This paper investigates citations of influential papers in the marketing
and management area. These papers are successful in terms of the direct
citations they receive (i.e., primary citations). To be truly
influential, however, the papers citing them must in turn be used and
cited by subsequent papers (i.e., have secondary citations) to
demonstrate their long-run relevance. We propose a measure of enduring
impact that takes into account (1) both primary and secondary citations
and (2) the number of citations in the bibliography. The measure is
non-linearly (exponentially) related to the traditional influence
measure (i.e., primary citations to a paper) and captures the
dissemination of knowledge from a paper more completely than cumulative
or average primary citations.

Abstract:
Zipf's law is ubiquitous in a language system, which establishes a
relation between rank and frequency of characters or words. In the
present study, it is shown that the distribution of character
frequencies for Garhwali language follows Zipf-Mandelbrot law. Garhwali
language is an Indo-Aryan language, spoken in the Garhwal region of
Uttarakhand, India (northwestern Himalayan belt of India). The present
communication examines the rank-frequency distribution by generalization
of Zipf-Mandelbrot law in Garhwali language having limited dictionary
size. The study shows that the distribution of character frequencies of
consonants (with matras), vowels (including vowels with consonants in
shape of matras) and all characters (including vowels and consonants
without matras) for continuous Garhwali corpus follows Zipf-Mandelbrot
law.

Abstract:
This article identifies and ranks 104 journals that might logically
serve as the core for the interdisciplinary field of Health Economics.
These journals are identified by analysing approximately 15 000 articles
contained in the current CVs of 100 top health economists. Of the nearly
1200 journals spanned by these CVs, 104 journals were outlets for more
than five of these top health economists. The 104 journals are ranked
using eigenfactor and article influence scores as well as the percentile
rank for each journal within its Institute for Scientific Information
category. The primary intention is to create a broad-based journal list
that exposes possible research outlets for aspiring health economists
and to report the relative rankings of such outlets using established
metrics.

Abstract:
Maintaining forest health is a worldwide challenge due to emerging tree
diseases, shifts in climate conditions and other global change
stressors. Research on forest health is thus accumulating rapidly, but
there has been little use of scientometric approaches in forest
pathology and dendrology. Scientometrics is the quantitative study of
trends in the scientific literature. As with all tools, scientometrics
needs to be used carefully (e.g., by checking findings in multiple
databases) and its results must be interpreted with caution. In this
overview, we provide some examples of studies of patterns in the
scientific literature related to forest health and tree pathogens.
Whilst research on ash dieback has increased rapidly over the last
years, papers mentioning the Waldsterben have become rare in the
literature. As with human health and diseases, but in contrast to plant
health and diseases, there are consistently more publications mentioning
tree health than tree disease, possibly a consequence of the often
holistic nature of forest pathology. Scientometric tools can help
balance research attention towards understudied emerging risks to forest
trees, as well as identify temporal trends in public interest in forests
and their health.

Abstract:
Background and Aim: Examination of top-cited articles is a tool that can
help to identify and monitor outstanding scientific researches and
landmark papers. We aimed to identify the 100 most cited published
papers in peer-reviewed biomedical journals in the field of digestive
diseases and to examine their characteristics.
Methods: The Web of Science (including Science Citation Index) was
searched for the most cited papers related to digestive diseases,
published from 1955 to the present. The top 100 most cited articles were
identified. The number of citations, countries, and institutions of
origin, year of publication, study design, topic, and levels of evidence
of the articles were noted and analyzed.
Results: The most top-cited articles had a mean of 1375 citations. These
articles were published between 1978 and 2009 in 29 high-impact
journals, with the New England Journal of Medicine (n = 22) topping the
list. Of the 100 articles, 34 were clinical studies, 15 were review
articles, and 34 were concerned basic science. These articles came from
18 countries, with the USA contributing most of the top-cited articles
(n = 53). Eighty-seven institutions produced these 100 top-cited
articles, led by the University of Barcelona (n = 4). Seven persons
authored two or more of these top-cited articles. The mostly represented
specialty was gastrointestinal oncology (n = 49).
Conclusions: Our study can give a historical perspective on the
scientific progress of digestive diseases, as well as allow for
recognition of most important advances in this area and provide useful
information to guide future researches.

Abstract:
The impact of a publication in a particular medical area is reflected by
the number of times the article is included as a citation. It is not
known, however, which articles are cited the most in primary care
journals. In our study, we aimed to identify the 100 most cited articles
in primary care medicine and analyze their characteristics. We searched
the Science Citation Index Expanded for articles published in 18 primary
care journals using the subject category Primary health care. We
identified 100 articles in primary health care that were the most cited.
We analyzed the characteristics of these articles using the title,
number of citations, citation density, year of publication, journal
source, decade published, country of origin, institution, author names,
and type of article. The 100 articles that were cited the most were
published between the years 1977 and 2009. The 1990s decade was the most
productive decade. The number of citations ranged from 117 to 775. The
articles were published in 9 journals and the journal with the largest
number of most cited articles (n=33) was the Journal of Family Practice.
This was followed by the British Journal of General Practice (n=17) and
the journal Family Practice (n=16). The United States was the most
productive country (n=59); the United Kingdom was next (n=25) and this
was followed by Canada (n=5) and The Netherlands (n=5). The most popular
article type was a review article and this was followed by a qualitative
study and then methodological study. Our study provides insight into the
historical development of primary care studies, based on citations, and
provides the foundation for further investigations.

Abstract:
Background: Significant growth has been observed in the field of foot
and ankle research in recent years. However, bibliometric studies
concerning the quantity and quality of articles published in foot and
ankle journals are scarce. This study aimed to reveal the
characteristics of national productivity in the field of foot and ankle
research and to provide a general picture of foot and ankle research for
surgeons and researchers.
Methods: Web of Science was searched for foot and ankle articles in 4
highly cited journals from 2009 to 2013. The number of total articles
and citations were collected to evaluate the contribution of different
countries. Publication activity was adjusted for the countries by
population size and gross domestic product (GDP).
Results: A total number of 2083 articles were published worldwide. North
America, West Europe, Australia and East Asia were the most productive
world regions. High income countries published 90.35% of articles,
middle-income 9.60%, and low-income just 0.05%. The United States
published the largest number of articles (1025/2083, 49.2%), followed by
the United Kingdom (221/2083, 10.6%), Australia (92/2083, 4.4%), and had
the highest total citations (3631). However, Canada had the highest
average citations per article (5.0), followed by Australia (4.6) and
Switzerland (4.2). There were positive correlations between the total
number of publications and population/GDP (p < 0.01). When normalized to
population size, Switzerland ranked the highest, followed by Australia,
and the United Kingdom. When adjusted for GDP, Switzerland ranked the
highest, followed by United Kingdom, and South Korea.
Conclusions: The United States is the most productive country in the
field of foot and ankle research. However, Australia, some smaller
European and Asian countries may be more productive relative to their
size.

*Citation* classics published in Knowledge Management *journals*. Part II: studying research trends and discovering the Google Scholar Effect

Abstract:
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to discover growing, stable and
declining knowledge management (KM) research trends.
Design/methodology/approach - Citations to 100 KM citation classics as
identified by Serenko and Dumay (2015) were collected and analyzed for
growing, stable and declining research trends.
Findings - This research has two findings that were not theoretically
expected. First, a majority of KM citation classics exhibit a bimodal
citation distribution peak. Second, there are a growing number of
citations for all research topics. These unexpected findings warranted
further theoretical elaboration and empirical investigation. The
analysis of erroneous citations and a five-year citation trend (2009
2013) reveals that the continuously growing volume of citations may
result from what the authors call the Google Scholar Effect.
Research limitations/implications - The results from this study open up
two significant research opportunities. First, more research is needed
to understand the impact Google Scholar is having on domains beyond KM.
Second, more comprehensive research on the impact of erroneous citations
is required because these have the most potential for damaging academic
discourse and reputation.
Practical implications - Researchers need to be aware of how technology
is changing their profession and their citation behavior because of the
pressure from the contemporary "publish or perish" environment, which
prevents research from being state-of-the-art. Similarly, KM reviewers
and editors need to be more aware of the pressure and prevalence of
mis-citations and take action to raise awareness and to prevent
mis-citations.
Originality/value - This study is important from a scientometric
research perspective as part of a growing research field using Google
Scholar to measure the impact and power it has in influencing what gets
cited and by whom.

Abstract:
This study evaluates research carried out in Pakistan during 1975-2014
in the fields of pharmacy and pharmacology using different bibliometric
indicators. The data have been retrieved from online database of the ISI
Web of Science. The global share of Pakistan in the publications in the
fields of pharmacy and pharmacology is only 0.25%. The volume and
quality of research in pharmacology and pharmacy revealed a positive
trend in Pakistan from 2005 onwards, as measured by the number of
articles published in ISI-indexed journals. The average annual growth
rate is 29.29% for publications and 34.22% for citations. If compared
with Asian countries, 27 countries including Pakistan are ranked in top
100 publishing countries in the field of pharmacology/pharmacy by Web of
Science. Out of those 27 countries, Pakistan holds 13th rank and still
needs concrete measures to increase research productivity and visibility
of researchers in the field of pharmacology/pharmacy.

Abstract:
Purpose - Although journal rankings are important for authors, readers,
publishers, promotion, and tenure committees, it has been argued that
the use of different measures (e.g. the journal *impact factor* (JIF),
and Hirsch's h-index) often lead to different journal rankings, which
render it difficult to make an appropriate decision. A hybrid ranking
method based on the Borda count approach, the Standardized Average Index
(SA index), was introduced to solve this problem. The paper aims to
discuss these issues.
Design/methodology/approach - Citations received by the articles
published in 85 Health Care Sciences and Services (HCSS) journals in the
period of 2009-2013 were analyzed with the use of the JIF, the h-index,
and the SA index.
Findings - The SA index exhibits a high correlation with the JIF and the
h-index (gamma > 0.9, p < 0.01) and yields results with higher accuracy
than the h-index. The new, comprehensive citation impact analysis of the
85 HCSS journals shows that the SA index can help researchers to find
journals with both high JIFs and high h-indices more easily, thereby
harvesting references for paper submissions and research directions.
Originality/value - The contribution of this study is the application of
the Borda count approach to combine the HCSS journal rankings produced
by the two widely accepted indices of the JIF and the h-index. The new
HCSS journal rankings can be used by publishers, journal editors,
researchers, policymakers, librarians, and practitioners as a reference
for journal selection and the establishment of decisions and
professional judgment.

Abstract:
Purpose - This study aims to explore the Web impact factors (WIFs) for
websites of Pakistani universities. The paper discusses why revised Web
*impact factor* (RWIF) is more meaningful than simple WIF. The study
also attempts to rank the top-five websites of Pakistani universities by
considering four different website ranking systems and compares the WIFs
of university websites of other developing countries as well.
Design/methodology/approach - This study calculates the RWIF for subject
websites using two webometric tools. Open Site Explorer service (i.e.
Developer Shed) and two commercial search engines, i.e. Google and Bing,
were used to collect the data for examining the RWIF for subject
websites.
Findings - Collectively 41,960 web pages and 49,740 inlinks were found
in top-ten Pakistani universities' websites. The collective RWIF for
subject websites comes to 1.185, which is at the top in comparison with
other developing countries, i.e. India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and
Indonesia.
Originality/value - Calculating WIF for university websites in Pakistan
and presenting the comparison with other types of website ranking system
is a kind of first study conducted for Pakistani library websites. The
study also presents alternate search strategy for data collection to
calculate RWIF for websites.

Abstract:
This article describes our effort to measure the research
competitiveness of Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research
(IISERs) through a scientometric analysis of their research output
during the last five years (2010-14). The research output indexed in Web
of Science of the five recently established IISERs has been obtained and
analysed computationally to identify growth trends, per capita output,
authorship and collaboration patterns, citation impact, average citation
per paper, etc. The research performance of IISERs is also compared with
the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institute of Technology
system to obtain an assessment of their research potential. Thus the
article presents a useful and detailed analytical account of research
potential and competitiveness of IISERs.

Abstract:
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to propose an approach for
conceptualizing science based on collaboration and competences of
researchers.
Design/methodology/approach - The research is conducted by exploratory
analysis of collaboration and competences using case studies from
humanistic, engineering, natural sciences and a general topic.
Findings - The findings show that by applying the proposed approach on
bibliographic data that readily exist for many national sciences as well
as for international scientific communities, one can obtain useful new
insights into the research. The approach is demonstrated with the
following exploratory findings: identification of important connections
and individual researchers that connect the community of
anthropologists; collaboration of technical scientists in the community
of anthropologists caused by an interdisciplinary research project;
connectivity, interdisciplinary and structure of artificial
intelligence, nanotechnology and a community based on a general topic;
and identifying research interest shift described with concretization
and topic-shift.
Practical implications - As demonstrated with the practical
implementation (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__scienceatlas.ijs.si_&d=CwIDaQ&c=4ZIZThykDLcoWk-GVjSLm9hvvvzvGv0FLoWSRuCSs5Q&r=vRiNzru59BAfO6003ni0ofMdud6wACdOl4NEZ68Ux6-ofOOVYc3VAwgeWOn3CI_F&m=r3-cn8GqyeoXNaQb2K9hZZD7Rs3ttc1duGy_wZVotQA&s=jxmhmkwBtu4x7M8Q2GulEf1LkOPQBmmRWfXXpHXs6dQ&e= ), users can obtain
information of the most relevant competences of a researcher and his
most important collaborators. It is possible to obtaining researchers,
community structure and competences of an arbitrary research topic.
Social implications - The map for collaboration and competences of a
complete science can be a crucial tool for policy-making. Social
scientists can use the results of the proposed approach to better
understand and direct the development of science.
Originality/value - Originality and value of the paper is in combining
text (competences) and network (research collaboration and co-authoring)
approaches for exploring science. Additional values give the results of
analysis that demonstrate the approach.

Abstract:
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate concepts that are
used in depicting future visions of society, as afforded by technology,
to map the extent of their use, examine the level of their dominance in
different research areas and geographic boundaries, identify potential
overlaps, analyse their longitudinal growth, and examine whether any of
the identified concepts has assumed an overarching position.
Design/methodology/approach - In total, 14 concepts, each of which is
used to depict visions of future information infrastructures, were
identified. More than 20,000 scholarly documents related to 11 of these
concepts (those with 20 or more documents) are analysed by various
qualitative/quantitative methods.
Findings - The concepts most referred to are semantic web and ubiquitous
computing (all years), and internet of things (Year 2013). Publications
on some newer concepts (e.g. digital living, real world internet) are
minimal. There are variations in the extent of use and preferred
concepts based on geographic and disciplinary boundaries. The overlap in
the use of these terms is minimal and none of these terms has assumed an
overarching umbrella position.
Research limitations/implications - This study is limited to scholarly
publications; it would be relevant to also study the pattern of usage in
governmental communications and policy documents.
Social implications - By mapping multiplicity of concepts and the
dispersion of discussions, the authors highlight the need for, and
facilitate, a broader discussion of related social and societal
implications.
Originality/value - This paper is the first to present a collective of
these related concepts and map the pattern of their occurrence and
growth.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE Bradford's law describes the scatter of citations for a given
subject or field. It can be used to identify the most highly cited
journals for a field or subject. The objective of this study was to use
currently accepted formulations of Bradford's law to identify core
journals of neurosurgery and neurosurgical subspecialties.
METHODS All original research publications from 2009 to 2013 were
analyzed for the top 25 North American academic neurosurgeons from each
subspecialty. The top 25 were chosen from a ranked career h -index list
identified from previous studies. Egghe's formulation and the verbal
formulation of Bradford's law were applied to create specific citation
density zones and identify the core journals for each subspecialty. The
databases were then combined to identify the core journals for all of
academic neurosurgery.
RESULTS Using Bradford's verbal law with 4 zone models, the authors were
able to identify the core journals of neurosurgery and its
subspecialties. The journals found in the most highly cited first zone
are presented here as the core journals. For neurosurgery as a whole,
the core included the following journals: Journal of Neurosurgery,
Neurosurgery, Spine, Stroke, Neurology, American Journal of
Neuroradiology, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology
Physics, and New England Journal of Medicine. The core journals for each
subspecialty are presented in the manuscript.
CONCLUSIONS Bradford's law can be used to identify the core journals of
neurosurgery and its subspecialties. The core journals vary for each
neurosurgical subspecialty, but Journal of Neurosurgery and Neurosurgery
are among the core journals for each neurosurgical subspecialty.

Abstract:
Recently, a normalized version of the g-index has been proposed as an
impact and concentration measure: the so-called s measure. The main
problem with this measure is that-somewhat paradoxically-it may be that
s = 1 even in the case in which citations are perfectly evenly spread
across articles. We prove that the measure s can and should be improved
by a different choice of a normalizing term. This is done by defining
the latter as a function of the citation count of the single most cited
paper. The new index presented here does not suffer from insensitivity
to citation transfers within the g-core.

Abstract:
Objective To describe h- and g-indices benchmarks in pediatric
subspecialties and general academic pediatrics. Academic productivity is
measured increasingly through bibliometrics that derive a statistical
enumeration of academic output and impact. The h-and g-indices
incorporate the number of publications and citations. Benchmarks for
pediatrics have not been reported.
Study design Thirty programs were selected randomly from pediatric
residency programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate
Medical Education. The h- and g-indices of department chairs were
calculated. For general academic pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology,
and pediatric nephrology, a random sample of 30 programs with
fellowships were selected. Within each program, an MD faculty member
from each academic rank was selected randomly. Google Scholar via
Harzing's Publish or Perish was used to calculate the h-index, g-index,
and total manuscripts. Only peer-reviewed and English language
publications were included. For Chairs, calculations from Google Scholar
were compared with Scopus.
Results For all specialties, the mean h- and g-indices significantly
increased with academic rank (all P < .05) with the greatest h-indices
among Chairs. The h- and g-indices were not statistically different
between specialty groups of the same rank; however, mean rank h-indices
had large SDs. The h-index calculation using different bibliographic
databases only differed by +/- 1.
Conclusion Mean h-indices increased with academic rank and were not
significantly different across the pediatric specialties. Benchmarks for
h- and g-indices in pediatrics are provided and may be one measure of
academic productivity and impact.

Abstract:
Objective Despite the high impact of acute and chronic pancreatitis on
the global burden of disease, no scientometric evaluation in this
research field has yet been conducted. Therefore, we have issued an
analysis in the field of pancreatitis research covering the past 112
years.
Methods Data were retrieved from the Web of Science database.
Density-equalizing mapping and large-scale data analysis were used to
visualize bilateral and multilateral research cooperation.
Results Finland is the only 1 of the 15 most productive countries
showing a ratio in favor of female scientists. The United States is the
most productive supplier with 24.1% of all publications. The most
successful international cooperation proved to be the one between the
United States and Germany. Although the United States holds the highest
h-index, Switzerland obtains by far the highest citation rate. China,
Russia, and India show only little international cooperation, given
their scientific productivity.
Conclusions For the benefit of scientific progress, more countries with
considerable numbers of patients should contribute to international
collaborations and female researchers should be encouraged and
supported.

Abstract:
With the advent of co-citation techniques in the 1960's, studies on
citation shifted from simple quantifications of the number of citations
per document to more complex analyses focusing on the relationship
between citations. The present study seeks to map the scientific and
cognitive structure of Brazilian stem cell publications. Brazilian
publications from 2001 to 2010 were retrieved from the Web of Science
database, and data on journal co-citations were processed with the help
of VOSViewer software. The results indicated that Brazilian stem cell
publications are characterised by a strong emphasis on co-cited journals
in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology, cell biology and
haematology. Such characteristics suggest that Brazilian stem cell
research is oriented both towards the treatment of a variety of human
diseases and injuries caused by accidents (research with stem cells) as
well as the understanding of stem cells' mechanisms of division,
differentiation and self-renewal (research on stem cells), the most
promising facet of stem cells. The progress in Brazilian stem cell
research likely results from a combination of a federal law established
in the 2000's, which regulates stem cell use and research, and the
growth of Brazilian science.

Adding authorship order to the quantity and quality dimensions of scholarly productivity: evidence from group- and individual-level analyses

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine whether authorship order-as
measured by first author publications, citations to first author
publications, and the first author h-index-plays a significant role in
scholarly productivity. Scholarly productivity was assessed in this
study with publications from 2011 to 2014 and citations to these
publications as indexed by the Thomson Web of Science. Using a
correlational design, a group-level analysis of 36 Ph.D.-granting
departments of criminology and criminal justice revealed that ratings
from a U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) survey correlated significantly
better with aggregate program first author publications than with
aggregate program total publications, although citations to first author
publications and the first author h-index failed to correlate
significantly better with the USN&WR than citing articles to total
publications and the total publication h-index, respectively. An
individual-level correlational analysis of all 228 full professors from
44 programs offering a Ph.D. in criminology/criminal justice showed that
time until promotion to full professor displayed a significantly
stronger inverse correlation with the number of first author
publications, the number of citations to first author publications, and
the first author h-index than with the total number of publications, the
number of citing articles to total publications, and the total
publication h-index, respectively. Hence, at both the group and
individual levels first author publications and at the individual level
citations to first author publications and the first author h-index
provided a better estimate of scholarly productivity than their
respective total publication counterparts.

Abstract:
A new indirect indicator is introduced for the assessment of scientific
publications. The proposed indicator (-index) takes into account both
the direct and indirect impact of scientific publications and their age.
The indicator builds on the concept of generations of citations and acts
as a measure of the accumulated impact of each scientific publication. A
number of cases are examined that demonstrate the way the indicator
behaves under well defined conditions in a Paper-Citation graph, like
when a paper is cited by a highly cited paper, when cycles exist and
when self-citations and chords are examined. Two new indicators for the
assessment of authors are also proposed (fa-index and fas-index) that
utilize the -index values of the scientific publications included in the
Publication Record of an author. Finally, a comparative study of the and
indices and a list of well known direct (Number of Citations, Mean
number of citations, Contemporary h-index) and indirect (PageRank,
SCEAS) indicators is presented.

Abstract:
Identifying influential nodes in dynamical processes is crucial in
understanding network structure and function. Degree, H-index and
coreness are widely used metrics, but previously treated as unrelated.
Here we show their relation by constructing an operator H, in terms of
which degree, H-index and coreness are the initial, intermediate and
steady states of the sequences, respectively. We obtain a family of
H-indices that can be used to measure a node's importance. We also prove
that the convergence to coreness can be guaranteed even under an
asynchronous updating process, allowing a decentralized local method of
calculating a node's coreness in large-scale evolving networks.
Numerical analyses of the susceptible-infected-removed spreading
dynamics on disparate real networks suggest that the H-index is a good
tradeoff that in many cases can better quantify node influence than
either degree or coreness.

Abstract:
Resolving ambiguous and unknown identities is crucial to intelligence
analysis in which fraud and deceptive names are frequently used by
criminals and terrorists to make their activities unnoticeable. Typical
approaches rely on the similarity measure of textual and other
content-based characteristics, which are usually not applicable in the
case of falsely-defined and unknown instances. This barrier can be
overcome through link information presented in communication behaviors,
financial interactions and social networks. Link-based similarity
measures have proven effective for identifying similar problems in the
Internet and publication domains. Inspired by this observation, the
paper presents new link-based algorithms that do not only concentrate on
link structure as adopted by the existing methods, but also bring link
properties into consideration. Intuitively, links are weighted in
accordance to their uniqueness. Their performance are experimentally
evaluated with datasets related to terrorism and similar tasks,
espcially the data collection extracted from evidence ontology that is
used for investigation of unrest in southern Thailand.

Abstract:
We use the metatheoretical principle of cumulative advantage as a
framework to understand the presence of heavy-tailed productivity
distributions and productivity stars. We relied on 229 datasets
including 633,876 productivity observations collected from approximately
625,000 individuals in occupations including research, entertainment,
politics, sports, sales, and manufacturing, among others. We implemented
a novel methodological approach developed in the field of physics to
assess the precise shape of the productivity distribution rather than
relying on a normal versus nonnormal artificial dichotomy. Results
indicate that higher levels of multiplicity of productivity,
monopolistic productivity, job autonomy, and job complexity (i.e.,
conductors of cumulative advantage) are associated with a higher
probability of an underlying power law distribution, whereas lower
productivity ceilings (i.e., insulator of cumulative advantage) are
associated with a lower probability. In addition, higher levels of
multiplicity of productivity, monopolistic productivity, and job
autonomy were associated with a greater proportion of productivity stars
(i.e., productivity distributions with heavier tails), whereas lower
productivity ceilings were associated with a smaller proportion of
productivity stars (i.e., productivity distributions with lighter
tails). Results serve as a building block for future theory development
and testing efforts aimed at understanding why, when, and how the
distribution of individual productivity may follow a nonnormal curveand
to what extent. We also discuss implications for organizations and
management in terms of the design and implementation of human resource
systems (e.g., selection, training, compensation), as well as for
individuals interested in becoming productivity stars themselves.

Abstract:
The advancement of science and technology plays an important role in
enhancing the international competitiveness of a nation. One of the
indicators for measuring the advancement in science and technology of a
nation is the amount of research that is published in international
journals. In order to improve the quantity and quality of research
publications, research themes mapping of published studies is required.
By conducting research themes mapping, the research road map for future
research can be developed effectively. In this study, Indonesian
scholars' publications, which are indexed in Scopus during the last five
years (2010. 2014), were analyzed by applying co-word analysis. Co-word
analysis, which is part of text mining, is applied to find the
interrelationship among research themes in a big corpus of data. As a
result, there are fifteen main research themes in Indonesia as on
Quadrant I and IV of strategic diagram.
