[Sigmetrics] Annual Meeting - SIG business - SIGMet workhsop - panel - officers

Dear Sigmetrics-people,

 

several announcements have to be made – most of them concerning the upcoming
annual meeting of ASIS&T in St. Louis (November 6 to 10) and SIG business.

 

1)      There will be a business meeting of SIGmetrics on November 10,
10:30AM - 11:40AM CDT, in room Sterling 5. Please feel free to join us to
hear about the latest news on the SIGMETRICS mailing list transition and
other SIGMet related events. Please bring everyone who is interested in
SIGMet but has not received this invitation.

2)      At the annual meeting SIGMet will have a panel “Self-Presentation in
Academia Today: From Peer-Reviewed Publications to Social Media” on November
9, 1:30PM-3:30PM. 

3)      There will also be a full-day SIGMet workshop taking place on
November 7, 9:00AM-5:00PM in St Louis. Please register for the workshop in
addition to the Annual Meeting. Fourteen presentations will be held, two of
which have been awarded the Student Best Paper price sponsored by Elsevier.
Also, the best paper on altmetrics will be chosen and will get a prize
sponsored by altmetric.com and Figshare. Please have a look at the full

4)      For the first time there will be the opportunity to join the Open
Poster Presentations during the SIGMet workshop’s coffee breaks. The posters
presented here are not peer reviewed but everyone is invited to bring a
poster, put it on the wall and discuss late breaking results or burning
questions.

5)      Last but not least: SIGMet needs to elect officers. Please until
November 5th get in touch with either Stefanie Haustein (incoming chair;
stefanie.haustein at umontreal.ca) or Isabella Peters (outgoing chair;
i.peters at zbw.eu) in case you are interested in getting more engaged with
SIGMet.
