The following courses will be available in fall 2014; please consider these options in your fall 2014 course planning or CE needs.

You do not need to be a LIS student to enroll in these courses. These courses will be of interest to those students / practitioners in fields that work with assessment or evaluation processes or handle a great amount of performance information as a part of their work. Understanding how to successfully manage performance information and to use assessment effectively to determine organizational performance and improve service delivery and impact are applicable knowledge and skills to all areas of academia and the job market. Assignments will be organized to let students apply the course contents and materials to their own field of study.

Course Title: Assessment Using Performance and Competitive Information 3 Credits
Course Description: This course will provide the student with a comprehensive review of multiple forms of assessment methodologies, metrics and information resources to assess performance and service quality, and inform decision making in many different organizational settings. The course is broken up into 3 units: assessment theory, methodologies, and information sources; assessing service quality and identifying competitors' abilities; and using performance and competitive information to inform decision making.

This course is also being offered as 3 one credit online course sections (covering the same materials as the three credit course) in fall 2014 to provide greater options for your attendance.

1st 1 Credit Course Title: Assessment Foundations
1st 1 Credit Course Description: The course will cover assessment theories, methodologies, and information sources to provide a foundational understanding of assessment theory and their applications within the student's area of interest / research.
Sep 29 - Oct 24, 2014
2nd 1 Credit Course Title: Assessing Service Quality
2nd 1 Credit Course Description: The course will cover the methods of assessing organizational service quality using both internal performance information and competitors' information assessment methods, emphasizing a wide variety of data sources within the student's area of interest / research.
Oct 27 - Nov 28, 2014
3rd 1 Credit Course Title: Using Assessment Information to Inform Decision Making
3rd 1 Credit Course Description: The course will cover the best practices of using the results of assessment, performance and other types of competitive information to inform organizational decision making within the student's area of interest / research.


All courses will be taught by myself with a high degree of practical application emphasis; none of the courses require a textbook at this time, and all will be S - U graded. Please contact the LIS Office for registration assistance at 645-2412.
