Bibliometrics Ph.D. student position available in Cologne, Germany

GESIS, the Leibniz Institute for the (German) Social Sciences, is looking for a Ph.D. student with a research interest in the general area of bibliometrics and scientometrics (detailed job add attached) to strengthen its new research focus in scientometric studies of the social sciences. We are looking for someone with a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Information and/or Computer Science, or for someone with an excellent Master's degree (or equivalent) in an empirical social science and with skills in statistics and computing (e.g., with R programming).

The 4-year position is paid as a 75% FTE entry-level staff scientist according to the German public service salary scale. Excellent German language skills are required for this position, as conducting scientometric studies of the German-language social sciences is among the main tasks in this position. The Institute boasts a highly interdisciplinary research and research infrastructure environment, and this position will provide excellent opportunities to interact with its full range of scientists and professionals. It is located in the very center of Cologne, Germany, within easy walking distance from its main travel, tourist, and shopping facilities.
