FULL TEXT:
Two Indian journals have crossed the impact factor (IF) of 1.00 for the
first time ever. The Journal Citation Reports 2004 included 5968 journals,
of which 47 were from India. The two journals are Journal of Biosciences
(IF 1.102) and Journal of Genetics (1.100). Other Indian medical journals
are The National Medical Journal of India (0.626, fourth in the list of
Indian journals). Indian Journal of Medical Resarch (0.6, fifth in the
list) and Neurology India (0.339). The multidisciplinary journal Current
Science has an IF of 0.688 and is third in the list. It is of interest
that the first three journals are published by the Indian Academy of
Sciences, Bangalore.
