 From the guest editor's editorial:

"Vassily Nalimov (VVN) is really beyond description. He is like a
wandering
star whose motion brought him for a short time in our constellation, giving
us a special gift - the word Scientometrics; then he moved on to another
level
of consciousness. One can only be astonished at his productivity, and his
visionary books on the evolution of contemporary sciences and on the
necessity
of cultural changes mankind must undertake in order to survive on the planet.
Nalimov is truly an extra-terrestrial thinker.

It was Tibor Braun's idea to dedicate a whole issue of this journal to the
memory of VVN. The challenge was unusual. It could not be limited to the
gathering of original papers from scientometicians. On the other hand,
introducing the readership to the "whole" VVN would have meant that little
was
left for papers on scientometrics. So I tried to create a structure that
reflects, at least in part, the main features of VVN's personality, his life
and work, his universal, probabilistic thinking."
