Given a set of pages of interest to the user, BIRD retrieves a set of
documents which are related to this given set through citation
linkages of a particular form.

BIRD also computes a measure of how similar each related document is
to the given set. This similarity measure, called <em>relatedness</em>
is based on the number and nature of citation linkages between
individual related documents and the given set.

this is still an active project, and that the software is available for
