Also, Kim Powell, who is our current coordinator of the annual student paper contest, is also looking to move out of the position; we need to recruit someone to take this over.
!!! THANK YOU to all those who served and WELCOME to all those new officers and liaisons!!!!
We have a surplus budget of approximately $10k for this year.
We discussed possible ways to spend this money next year in order to broaden our reach and to generate interest outside of the USA including:
· Sponsoring a student to attend a workshop/conference/summer school (perhaps in Europe/Asia) in metrics
o We would pay for the student to attend
o The student would be required to write a small report on the research being presented and then we would share it with our members and (perhaps) create a blog post.
o The student would also hand out swag (marketing) materials (see next bullet point) and market the SIG
· Buy some marketing materials for SIG/MET (like other SIGs have done)
o T-shirts
o Screen cleaning material
o USB drive
o Information sheet
o Banner for
o Etc…
· Reimburse students their registration fees for the workshop.
· Hold another metrics conference in relation with other associations
Hold over ideas from previous years:
· Redesign the SIG/MET logo (we’ve started this process, but never moved it forward – I have a Dropbox folder I can share)
· Utilize the SIG/MET abstract submission data in some form of contest or data sharing in the SIG/MET workshop
· Webinars on various aspects of what we do
More soon.
Best,
Tim
