We have a few exciting items to discuss including a competition to redesign the SIG/MET logo, the possibility and availability of members to give online webinars, our yearly student and paper competitions, our presence and support of student travel at the ISSI conference in Wuhan, China (and other conferences), expanding our online presence, and a proposed project to analyze SIG/MET member activities and create an infographic to attract new members. In addition, we would like to hear from you regarding what you would like to see happen and any other projects you would like to propose. Note, we will also plan to record the meeting in case you are unable to attend. I cleaned author names but other than that it is as basic as it gets. The file could serve directly for the SIG/MET analysis / infographic challenge by letting participants collect additional information, but we could also extend this by adding a bit more information. Maybe you can all have a look and let us know what you think! In order to turn this into a competition, the next step would be to request a budget (for the prize and possible the production of the infographic as a banner, flyers, etc.) from the SIG Reserve fund. I've been told that anything between $1,000 and $2,000 per project is doable, but this depends on submissions by other SIGs. Best, Stefanie PS: I do have the full texts as Word of PDF files for most but not all contributions, as indicated in the Excel file. -- ____________________________________________________________________ __________ Stefanie Haustein Postdoctoral Researcher Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication ?cole de biblioth?conomie et des sciences de l?information (EBSI) Universit? de Montr?al e-mail: haustein.stefanie at gmail.com | stefanie.haustein at umontreal.ca web: stefaniehaustein.com | crc.ebsi.umontreal.ca Twitter: @stefhaustein -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Elsevier, Clarivate, Altmeteric, others? (@Stefi, @Tim, @Zohreh) ? SIGMET logo design ? (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/c44d8g5ve5zj5sm/AACwcT4M5fL1Adwkufp2rNvfa?dl=0) create instructions, send to SIGMET officers for approval, then send to SIGMET mailing list with caveat that one must be member to submit logo design for consideration (in our email, we must explain how easy it is to become member of SIGMET through ASIST); no cash prize, but they will be able to state on their CV/resume that they created logo used by our SIG (@Tim) ? Webinars ? Kun has volunteered to possibly tackle a first webinar this spring (from him or student); we can then advertise Kun?s fantastic webinar to SIGMET mailing list and outside of our membership with a call for a Fall webinar to occur before annual meeting and asking for ideas/participants; webinars can either be research oriented, tool-based, or more general describing what we do (@Kun, @Tim, @Stefi) ? Conference submissions, sponsorship, and prizes ? Look at sponsors and how much money we expect; look at budget and how much money we have to spend; consider adding additional prizes (in addition to student paper); ensure that we can support travel (if possible) to sister ISSI conference via ASIST HQ; clarify conference paper/poster submission instructions and ensure there are no competing submission types (@Tim, @Stefi, @Zohreh) ? SIG/MET bibliometric analysis completion ? get data from @Stefi; come up with guidelines for competition; choose best overall graphics and interpretations for use in SIGMET banner on web and print; Apply for ASIST additional resources funding ($2000) to support this work; submit results as ASIST Publication of the Year (@Stefi, @Tim, @Zohreh) ? Possibility of supporting additional web-based SIGMET group outreach via platforms such as Mendeley, ResearchGate, Academia, Facebook, etc.; must become responsibility of SIGMET web officer to promote; SIGMET members must buy-in to adding information; is this realistic expectation?; we have Twitter and website now. (@Tim, @Philippe) ? Send note to SIGMET list apologizing for technical limitations and not allowing everyone to attend meeting; think about having meeting every 2 months for officers and a separate meeting for members; send recorded copy of this meeting to members (@Tim) Let me (and everyone) know if I missed anything.
