Do we need to further qualify what a student's significant contribution to a co-authored work represents (e.g., majority effort)? I think it's understand, but a student could be the first author on a paper co-authored with several faculty members and have contributed equally--which represents a substantial, but minority, effort. On the other hand, we may not wish to further limit the applicant pool with what could be viewed as an additional restriction.
