Thanks for those who have responded to the group and to me individually. Based on these responses, I propose that we do:
1. Full reimbursement for student paper winners (Kim, will you please notify them?)
2. At least 50% off registration for student participants, based on the number of students who register for the workshop.
Is this okay with everyone? I want to send out a note today.

Dear all,

I don't have the information on the number of student participants we had last year. However, I believe it would be fairly easy to figure out that from the SIGMET budget report. I don't believe that there were more than 10 students.

We used last year's Elsevier's funds in three ways: to pay for the workshop (in full) for the student paper winners; to have a discount rate for all the participants (from $150 to $105); and to have an additional discount for student participants (the registration for them was $65). The way the discount for students worked was by reimbursement of $40 after the ASIST annual meeting.

I agree with Judit that student paper contest winners should be able to register for free to the workshop.

Best,
Stasa

Dear All,

The question is how many student participants we had last year? More than 10?

In any case, in my opinion, the student contest winners should be reimbursed in full for the workshop.  By full I mean $150. Note that they will register for this amount only if they register today (last day of early bird) and are SIG/MET members.

I am not  sure about the rest. What did we do last year?

Regards,

Judit

Dear All:

The reviews have finally gone out for the SIG/MET workshop and a
preliminary program is attached. Please let me know if you see any problems
or have suggestions for reorganization.

As last year, I would like to offer discounts/reimbursements for student
registrations. We received $1500 from Elsevier. I would like to state in
the promotional material that this be used for students. Should we state
that the first x student registrants will receive an x% or $x discount? We
could even go as crazy as to say that the first 10 students will be
reimbursed for the full amount? We might also want to comp registration for
our three student paper winners. Let me know what you think about this so
that we can be explicit in our promotional material for the workshop.

I have emailed Elsevier to get a paragraph about their data/presentation.
This will also go out in our promotional material regarding the workshop.

Vincent and Isabella are hard at work at creating some very cool
promotional items that will be given out at the workshop and AM. Stay tuned!

Best,
Cassidy
