[Sigmet-officers] Any SIG/MET Contributions to the Next ISSI Newsletter?

The CFP looks good to me. It would be nice to have a full page of the newsletter to get people's attention. The CFP text is in that ballpark right now. If needed, a  picture of Montreal in the fall could fill in a space gap.

Could we include a URL for workshop information at this point? Even if it's only an empty page for now with future information to come, it will provide interested individuals with a place to go to for more information as we get closer to the workshop date .

I don't have a good sense of how much lead  time international contributors may need to obtain travel  documentation. If needed, could the deadlines be moved back a couple of weeks to give folks two months to plan their trip? Also, will the current time frame allow enough time for participants  to meet the early conference registration deadline ?

Best,

Dietmar

Thanks, Dietmar! How long do you think this should be? Should this be just a short insert? If so, I have started a short draft (attached) and would welcome comments/changes.

Hi,

The ISSI newsletter is seeking contributions for its next issue. Balazs Schlemmer, technical editor for the newsletter, would welcome any of the following:

"1) conference calls (including workshops, summer/winter schools, seminars etc.),
2) news / short communications...
   a) ...focusing on milestones/curiosities from the world of scientometrics/informetrics
   b) ...about outstanding personal achievements (awards, honorary doctorates etc.) in the field
   c) ...being relevant to the community in any other way
3) articles fitting in the profile of the Newsletter
4) book or software reviews
5) reports, photo reports of major conferences/workshops held recently
6) editorial
etc.

When applicable, photos, charts and other illustrations are most welcome.
(Please don't forget to provide source data (e.g. Excel sheets) for charts and make sure that the photos/illustrations are of high quality!)"

The editorial deadline is June 17, 2013 (Monday).

This may represent a good opportunity to promote upcoming SIG activities like the student paper contest, the EBRP dataset (if the details are known by June 1st), and the workshop (at least as a heads up even if the outcome won't be known until later).

Kind regards,
Dietmar
