Dear all,
I have great news regarding our SIG! I've just received an email from
Dick Hill regarding the ASIST awards luncheon where I found out that SIG
MET is jointly awarded (with SIG ED) this year's SIG of the year award.
Here's the description:
SIG/MET is recognized for its transformation into an active and
productive traditional SIG from a virtual SIG only two years ago. In the
past year it has been successful in growing its membership, expanding
its outreach through a wide variety of electronic and social media;
offered a successful and well-attended webinar on Information
Visualization from the perspective of researchers interested in
incorporating visualizations into a research project within the fields
of Bibliometrics, Citation Analysis, Scientometrics, Informetrics, and
Webometrics; was the a co-sponsorofDoctoral Forum 2012 "Quantitative
Research in Information Science" held at the University of Wolverhampton
UK; held a successful student paper contest for original research, with
the prize winners presenting at a workshop at the ASIS&T 2012 Annual
Meeting; had two panels accepted for inclusion at the ASIS&T 2012 annual
meeting; sponsored a panel at the iConference; and, in honor of the 75th
anniversary of ASIS&T's founding, produced a special section on metrics
for the August/September 2012 issue of the /Bulletin of the American
Society for Information Science and Technology./
Thank you all for making this happen! We should celebrate in Baltimore.
Best,
Stasa
