Dear All,
I suggest that SIGMET proposes a panel for this year's ASIST conference.
Last year we proposed a panel on the uses of informetrics and endorsed
another panel on teaching informetrics. There was a third panel on
alternative metrics, but we did not endorse/support that one.
This year I suggest that we propose a panel on information visualization.
This would fit Track 2 (Interaction). It seems to me that many members of
our SIG could contribute to such a panel, but we should not have more than
4 or maximum 5 presenters. The instructions for panel submission say:
Proposals for panels are invited on topics that include emerging
cutting-edge research and design, analyses of emerging trends, opinions on
controversial issues, analyses of tools and techniques, and contrasting
viewpoints from experts in complementary professional areas.
So I think that the panel could concentrate on tool and techniques, with
each presenter concentrating on a different tool.
The deadline for submissions is April 30.
Let me know your thoughts on this.
Regards,
Judit
