Dear all,
After receiving Blaise Cronin's resopo0mse, I decided to send follow-up emails to the remaining five people that Chaoqun had contacted, describing as Chair the rationale for the SIG and the paper contest. Subsequently Chaoqun and I between us received positive responses from Katherine McCain, Ronald Roussueau and Mike Thelwall and a negative response from Loet Leydersdorff (“Unfortunately, I have to decline because of a bit of overload.”). We have not yet revived a response from Gene Garfield.
Mindful of the fact that we are about to enter the final two wells before the contest, I suggest that I contact another four potential reviewers. I suggest four, as we cannot predict how many will agree to review and having slightly too many reviewers seems permeable to having too few. If we have too many reviewers, I would prefer to stand down as a reviewer rather than inform one the externals that we do not require their services. I am thinking of asking Kevin Boyack, Henk Moed, Liwen Vaughan and Michel Zitt. My rationale for asking these is: (a) they are all are on the ISSI scientific committee, (b) they all have a strong record of research and (c) I have spoken with each at meetings during the last two years.
Mindful of the fact that we are entering our final two weeks before the deadline, I think we should contact the remaining potential reviewers ASAP. Could you please notify me within the next 34 hours if you have any objections to my asking Kevin Boyack, Henk Moed, Liwen Vaughan and Michel Zitt to review? If I don’t receive any objections, on Monday morning (UK time) I will ask those four to review.
Best regards,
Jonathan.
