The following is information concerning a librarian/information specialist position opening in Bethesda, MD.  The KEVRIC Company, Inc. Located on-campus at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, the LinkOut project handles all external linking to web-accessible resources from the Entrez databases.  The goal is to facilitate access to relevant online resources beyond the Entrez system to extend, clarify, or supplement information found in the Entrez databases.  Existing LinkOut resources includes full-text publications, library holdings, biological databases, consumer health information, research tools, and more. The successful candidate will primarily be a contact point for libraries and other link providers to help them through the participation process and ensure the quality of their links on a continuous basis.

Essential Responsibilities
Incumbents will consult with the NCBI help desk, the NLM Customer Service and the Regional Medical Libraries to help to solve questions and issues related to LinkOut that are presented to them.  Candidates will establish and maintain strong lines of communication and supportive relationship with link providers, especially libraries, assist in establishing policies and procedures to handle large volume of LinkOut participation, and provide administrative, procedural and technical support for link providers, including reviewing the XML LinkOut files, to make sure links submitted are in line with the established requirements.  Incumbents will also perform quality assurance checking on links, establishing policies and procedures to achieve this goal effectively.

Qualifications

		*	Ability to organize and prioritize high volume of questions and requests in a timely manner, while maintaining good attitude, patience and flexibility

		*	Strong analytic skill with attention to details, and ability to conduct thorough quality checking on product and services

		*	Knowledge and experience of technology related to World Wide Web, especially linking within and among electronic scientific/scholarly publications and databases

		*	Knowledge and experience with UNIX, XML/SGML, and Entrez/PubMed

		*	Knowledge on database structure, searching and indexing concepts, bibliographic record formats and electronic scholarly journals

		*	Master degree in information/library science or equivalent.
