IAKM 60313 - Strategic Knowledge Management - Virtual Communities
Instructor: Dr. Denise Bedford, Goodyear Professor

Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic, and who deepen their knowledge and expertise in this area by interacting on an ongoing basis. While communities of practice have been around for centuries, they continue to evolve and are an integral part of the knowledge management domain. In this course, we will be using real world examples to learn how communities of practice work and their role in knowledge creation and transfer. We will also try to grow to grow the body of knowledge about Communities of Practice through our own learning in the course.

IAKM 60105 Information Technologies
Instructor: Karl Fast

This course has three distinct goals:

(1) Getting a handle on the gory details of the technology and building better, richer, more useful conceptual models of how the digital world works.

(2) Understanding the humanity of the machine.

(3) Learn our role in designing, making, shaping, and building the machine.
