CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead architectural design, implementation, and integration of enterprise
search components which provide world-class search functionality for
websites, structured data, and federated external content.
· Work closely with enterprise search business owners and internal search
clients to understand information needs, and facilitate/advise development
team in translating search technology into effective solutions that
support business objectives.
· Investigate and recommend new search technology solutions that leverage
existing investment, but with cutting edge innovation.
· Advocate enterprise search architecture interests across corporate-wide
systems architecture efforts, ensuring that investment in enterprise
search and taxonomy solutions are appropriately leveraged.
Skills/Experience Requirements
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
· Leadership ability in management of complex technical and knowledge
management solutions, including demonstrated consensus building and
problem solving in a distributed team environment.
· Ability to translate broad strategies into specific objectives and
action plans.
· Requires excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication
skills. Technical architecture documentation skills strongly preferred.
· Successful design, development and implementation experience with
enterprise search solutions, including collection design and optimization
and search interfaces is required. Experience with Autonomy K2, IDOL,
FAST, IBM Omnifind, and/or Microsoft SharePoint Search is strongly
preferred.
· Experience integrating search solutions with IBM WebSphere Portal
(including WCM), Microsoft SharePoint, and Documentum products is strongly
preferred.
· Familiarity with development tools and related concepts including: J2EE,
Struts, JSP, Tomcat, .NET, SOA, and/or web service is preferred.
· Familiarity with metadata management, taxonomy/ontology, semantic web,
and related information organization concepts is preferred.
· Experience in global, corporate environment is preferred, but not
required.
Education Requirements · Masters degree in information technology,
computer and/or library science, or equivalent professional experience.
Significant Work Activities & Conditions: Keyboard use (greater or equal
to 50% of the workday)
Percentage of Travel: 5%
