E-CONTENT SPECIALIST

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The E-Content Specialist is responsible for gathering and documenting users' content requirements and translating them into system specifications, developing and maintaining content collections and content architectures, developing interfaces and applications to facilitate information access and delivery, and participating in the integration of content management with organizational applications and digital content preservation initiatives. Responsible for identifying, populating and maintaining content including quality control of an online bibliographic database. The E- Content Specialist will participate in Web related projects including Foundation intranet sites. S/He will understand web projects as a technical user as well as a Foundation user.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Master's Degree (preferably in Information Sciences or Business)

·        Significant project management experience including web technical project management, development methods and tools

·        Knowledge of organizational taxonomy and other content architectures to facilitate information access, delivery and publication

·        Significant project management experience including web technical project management, development methods and tools

·        Strong Internet and web application development background with high level support and excellent user satisfaction experience

·        Ability to communicate with technical staff and to translate technical requirements into concepts understandable to non-technical staff

·        Knowledge of initiatives related to providing access to electronic resources

·        Experience in information based or web development/usability setting

·        Strong analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, written and presentation skills

·        Ability to cooperatively set and effectively attain goals in a fast-paced and changing environment

·        Broad knowledge of digital technologies, marc/metadata standards, and best practices

·        In-depth knowledge of information retrieval and organizational principles, computer systems and relational database management systems.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

Knowledge of ASP, HTML and MS-SQL. Experience in using or understanding concepts of VB, Java or other object oriented languages; substantial knowledge of Microsoft/Intel platform and XML; familiarity with Microsoft Share point or other portal software.



Grade:                               128 - Exempt



Hiring Guidelines:            $57,200 - $68,300
