[Let me know of any duplicate
emails.]
Hi, again,
Now that I have gotten everyone's attention playing "where in the world is
Milwaukee" (it is truly in Wisconsin), let me invite you to consider panel
presentations or papers. We now have 5 weeks to submit (by Jan. 21). Though
if you prefer poster/short paper, you have 10 weeks (February 25).

Feel free to share any personal ideas or team ideas. Already I received a
question about working with 3M company (they are in Minnesota) and getting
theorists and practitioners of KM on a panel together. Since 3M is such an
innovative, global company with corporate headquarters in "nearby" St. Paul,
Minnesota, we assume they allow employees time and resources to develop new
ideas for products when they first started out --- hopefully they would
like to share that. A SIG/KM member wants to see how globalization has
affected 3M's culture of knowledge sharing and development of new products.
Who wants to expand on that topic?

Please reply if you have suggestions for someone to speak about knowledge
creation theories, corporate case studies, and tips/hints from practitioners
for that panel or others.

I personally may prepare a paper on Project Management as Knowledge
Management --perhaps that topic interests you, too. I know in Austin some
mentioned "Non-traditional vs. Traditional KM" at our SIG meeting and, of
course, and working on Social Networking or Web 2.0 to support 2007 meeting
theme. Plus, other SIGs may be contacting us about Content Management,
Medical Informatics, and Management or Digital Libraries again, etc. Or we
can contact them.

Share your ideas. And don't hesitate to ask the SIG or me to support you. I
will attach in next email a SIG/KM "call for participation" and two sample
proposals from 2006.

Finally, don't forget we will all want to help with KM events --especially
the Knowledge Cafe, which needs a speaker and topic. (Note: I have forwarded
to Planning Committee the "speed meeting" idea. Part of getting corporate
contacts, too, for sponsoring food, panels, etc.)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Deborah Swain
